GPA Calculator – Calculate College & High School GPA
Add each course with credits and a letter or percentage grade. Toggle weighted for Honors/AP (up to 5.0).
GPA is a credit-weighted average of your grades. This calculator supports letter grades from A+ to F and percentage grades on a common US mapping, then shows cumulative GPA as you edit rows.
Unweighted uses a 4.0 scale (A and A+ both 4.0).Weighted adds +1.0 to courses marked Honors/AP, capped at 5.0 — a common high-school approach. Always confirm your school’s exact chart for transcripts and applications.

How to use
- Choose Unweighted (4.0) or Weighted (Honors/AP up to 5.0).
- Add a row for each course — name optional, credits required, grade as letter or percent.
- In Weighted mode, check Honors/AP on courses that earn the +1.0 boost.
- Read the live cumulative GPA. Remove rows or tap Reset to start over.
Tips
- GPA = total quality points ÷ total credits. A 4-credit A moves the average more than a 1-credit A.
- Unweighted uses a standard 4.0 scale (A/A+ = 4.0). Weighted adds +1.0 only to checked Honors/AP rows (cap 5.0).
- Percentage grades map to the same letter points (e.g. 93–96% → A = 4.0). Confirm your school’s cutoffs if they differ.
- Pass/fail and incomplete courses usually don’t count — leave them out unless your school assigns points.
FAQ
What GPA scale does this use?
Unweighted: A+/A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D− = 0.7, F = 0.0. Weighted adds +1.0 for Honors/AP courses (maximum 5.0).
How does weighted GPA work here?
When Weighted is selected, any course marked Honors/AP gets one extra point on top of the unweighted value (capped at 5.0). Regular courses stay on the 4.0 scale.
Can I enter percentage grades?
Yes. Type a number like 88 — it maps to a letter band (87–89% = B+) and the matching grade points. Letter grades (A−, B+, etc.) work too.
Is this for high school or college?
Both. Enter the credits and grades your transcript uses. College often uses unweighted 4.0; many high schools add weight for Honors/AP.
What if my school uses a different plus/minus map?
Some schools set A+ = 4.3 or treat all A’s as 4.0 without minuses. Use this tool as a clear standard estimate, then adjust to your registrar’s chart if needed.
How do credits affect GPA?
Each course contributes (grade points × credits) to quality points. Divide the sum of quality points by the sum of credits for cumulative GPA.
